Our Surgeons

Dr Andrew Hodges MB,ChB, FRCS, FRCS Plast (Eng)

Dr. Andrew Hodges is a British trained Plastic Surgeon who has lived and worked in Uganda for over 20 years. He spent 7 years as a General Surgeon in a Mission Hospital in the West of Uganda before returning to the UK to undergo his Plastic Surgery training in the South West of England, obtaining his qualification of FRCS Plast (Eng) in 2004. In 2005 he moved to Uganda and started a new department of Plastic Surgery in Mengo Hospital which developed and migrated to CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital. While at CoRSU he became the training director for the MMed Plastic Surgery Training program. He has been an examiner for the COSECSA Specialist Plastic Surgery training. He has a broad interest in General Plastic Surgery, Microsurgery and Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr Dorothy Bbaale MD, MMED PRS (MUST)

Dr Dorothy Bbaale is a Ugandan Plastic Surgeon, who trained in St Petersburg, Russia and has been working as a medical doctor in Uganda for the last ten years. She started working at CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital in 2016, then continued to undergo her plastic surgery MMED training there, which she successfully completed in 2020. She then went onto work at C-Care International Hospital Kampala, providing plastic surgery services in the Department of Surgery. She is a member of several surgical societies including the Oxford Global Surgery Group Alumni, GICAM group and the GAP- Burns Collaboration, which all aim on improving surgical care in low and middle income countries. Her surgical interests include paediatric plastic surgery, burn surgery, microsurgery and cosmetic surgery.

Mastopexy (Breast lift)

I can’t say enough about my experience with Doctor Hodges, I met him more than 13 years ago when he first did a breast lift on me. He is friendly and very good at explaining the procedure as well as managing one’s expectations in terms of results. Mastopexy (Breast lift)

At the beginning of 2022 I had extremely low self esteem. Despite many good things in my life I was not happy because of the shape of my breasts which had lost their elasticity. I could not stand the site of them and hated myself until I came across the people that gave me back breath- Dr Bbaale and Dr Hodges. They performed surgery on me at AMC which gave me back my breasts. Before surgery they talked through all the options including the option of choosing to love myself as I was. I chose surgery and I can safely say it was the best decision I ever made for myself. I would recommend this procedure 100 percent and I would do it again if time was reversed. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)

I am a 43 year old woman. I developed diastasis recti after 3 pregnancies which caused a lot of bloating and pain particularly when eating. When I met Doctor Hodges, my problem was solved. I had a tummy tuck with him and my life has become so good cos I can eat everything without bloating and the icing on the cake is that my stomach is soooo flat. No side effects as people fear as long as you listen to his instructions. I can't thanks Dr Hodges enough.

After giving birth to my children through CS, my stomach lost shape. Dressing up was a nightmare and new friends asked me when I would deliver! Any amount of gym could not improve my condition.
